Colorado’s Garfield County is getting its first installation of a revolutionary new wildfire mitigation system developed here in Colorado. The system, called Colorado FireBreak, combines an eco-friendly fire suppressant with an innovative delivery system that literally creates a firebreak around a property until the wildfire threat passes it.
The self-contained Colorado FireBreak system is designed to protect mountain homes, and the surrounding trees and outbuildings. For this new installation near Glenwood Springs, the customized system will protect a home on acreage with a south-sloping hill. It is expected to be operational by late June, and will include a remote activation feature that allows the owner to activate the system by mobile phone or through an Internet portal.
